Story
Vineyard
Ron Silva, the grower at Silvaspoons, hails from an Azorean family. It’s fitting that he planted a significant portion of his Alta Mesa, Lodi vineyard to a laundry list of Iberian grape varieties. Mencia, Verdelho, Tinta Cão…the list goes on. His vineyard is farmed under the Lodi Rules Sustainable Winegrowing program, which considers sustainable farming as it relates to the environment and the community of people that do the work. In Ron’s vineyard, you’ll see owl boxes, cover cropping, and the use of goats to keep the weeds down.
Winemaking
The grapes were pressed and fermented to dryness in stainless steel. One-third of the wine was aged in stainless steel; the remainder in neutral French oak.
Unfined, unfiltered.
