Story
Vineyard
The Mio Vignetto Vineyard is located in the Clements Hills appellation of Lodi, just a stone’s throw from the first hillocks of the Sierra foothills. The soils here have been built up over the past hundreds of thousands of years by streams and rivers that carried silt, gravel, sand, and clay out of the Sierra Nevada.
Winemaking
Ribolla is often fermented on the skins like a red wine, but we chose to direct press this lot for a more focused expression of the grape. We do the skin ferment thing too. More on that later.
The juice was settled overnight in tank and then spontaneously fermented in neutral French oak barrels. After completing alcoholic fermentation, the new wine was racked off its lees and returned to barrel, where it was allowed to progress through malolactic fermentation naturally.
